A New Direction

Here in the Bay Area, we’re simplifying our goals and laying to rest our need to make this venture profitable. Trying to turn doing what you love and living out of a bus into a business, while definitely possible (and we think still full of potential), has been too much for our team right now. While it may cut our trip short, letting this go for right now gives us the freedom to focus more on the art of what we’re doing.

Which we’re turning to emphasize consciousness. Our trip started with a realization of the freedom and power of being alive and aware of it. Through many discussions and shared experiences, we began to build a base on which we could talk about consciousness and the amazing human ability to use imagination, creativity and action to shape the world. Then, we agreed we should work together to put our own creativity to use shaping the world to be a little more fun, a little more loving, and a little more accepting.

That’s how we got started and that’s what we’re returning to. The other piece of our puzzle, and indeed probably everyone’s, was how our creativity could fit into society at large. Our thought was just to be ourselves and be open and present and let people interact with us how they will. That’s been incredibly interesting and been the key to breaking the ice and meeting all the fascinating people we have. The one thing that’s been missing is a simple avenue for people to contribute cohesively.

Now we’re hoping to include that by centering our questions and conversation around the evolution of consciousness that’s taking place. People are adapting to a 21st century world in which technology is beginning to probe and alter some of humankind’s most basic experiences, and as a result people are constantly confronted with the reality of being one tiny piece in a puzzle of 7 billion.

A few (admittedly underdeveloped) trends and examples of this:

  • Brands trending toward a lifestyle, giving people a way of building identity out of the companies they associate with
  • Dramatic increases especially in “Western” culture of mind-body-awareness practices such as yoga and meditation
  • Desire for fulfillment and ‘making a difference’ emerging as top job perks desired by recent graduates

OK, it’s also my birthday so I’m gonna get out there.  We’re headed out for a day with a photographer in Half Moon Bay and then it’s into San Francisco we go!

Cheers,
Mike

We are here in Half Moon Bay and have seen your bus a few times. I drive a fully restored 1968 VW Bus so needless to say, yours has caught my eye. We are in our RV doing a very similar thing as you, but have settled full time in HMB….for now. I teach yoga and We also go to Burning Man and love the community there. Congrats on your adventure, reach out if we can help you in anyway or just wanna have lunch and enjoy your journey. More people should follow your (our!) example. Namaste ~ David
